ABOUT ‘GOETZ LIVING‘

Hi there!

My name is Jeff Goetz. I retired from 32+ years of engineering as of end-2023. I started a new chapter in life as stay-at-home dad; I’m about to be an empty nester. I am pursuing my interests as an author and photographer.

Overall, I write about topics or questions that interest me from a Gen-X perspective.

I’m not here to create a ‘side hustle’ to feed the algorithm. Yes, I intend to sell some products from this site and use some affiliate links, but that’s not my primary or secondary goal. That’s mainly to perhaps some day fund the expenses for the websites.

So, what are my goals? I’m here to have some fun as a next chapter in life after my engineering career, connect with like-minded people, share what I find out, and learn from you all, too.

This is my site to share my learning and experiences in my retired life, as husband, father, traveler, student of the world and our cosmos.

Honestly, I’m still working it out, but you can expect to see topics such as:

  • Community – friendships and volunteering.

  • Cooking – I love to cook.
  • Health & Fitness – improving my overall health so I can live a full life.
  • Other hobbies, like bowling, writing, technology – and who knows what else.

I know folks tend to come to a website for a certain topic and there are quite a few listed up there, so here’s how I intend to bucket them to enable you to view your interests.

I know that looks like a lot to take in, but it’s not. It’s just living life.

It’s about living and learning. Hence, the ‘Goetz Living’ name.

I do not claim to be an expert on any of the above, but will share what I learn. I will attempt to be concise. I will be respectful & grateful of your time visiting my site.

I’m not one niche or hobby – nobody is! I have many interests in life. I explore and share info on many topics.

Goetz Living is my website is for all things non-finance and non-photography. I have those two topics covered with the sites noted further below.

On Personal Finance

I manage my family’s personal finances and am focused on early retirement finances and budgeting.

For me, personal finance and general financial literacy are not as well understood as they should be. It’s a topic I’m interested in, so I write articles to share what I’ve learned or experienced so others might benefit. This is a crowded area on the internet with lots of information, so my overall tips is always ‘Read, learn, verify, and know what’s appropriate for you” – life is not a one-size-fits-all. On Photography

I love photography. In some form, I’ve been taking photos for nearly 50 years.

I share my photography-related work on jeffgoetz.com.

Perhaps the articles and content will offer some information or perspective that others may appreciate, or their comments will clarify/correct me, so we all learn a bit more.
